supercargo n. 货运监督；货运照料人 在海商法中，一是指货物的所有者所僱用的跟随运货船舶的管理人员。该雇员负责监督管理在途的出口货物，并将货物以最有利之销售条件售出，还可经授权决定购入适当之返程货物和收取运费(旧时货物所有者一般同时就是船东，故得贩运货物时搭载其他客商之货物而收取报酬)。此外，该词还用于指在船舶期租合同中，由租船人僱佣并被派在船上随船监督货物装卸作业的管理人员。该僱员的职责在于保证货物装卸尽快完成，节省船舶在港时间，缩短船舶营运周期，从而充分保障租船人的利益。
