〈美〉国防部 根据《1949年国家安全法修正案》〔National Security Act Amendments of 1949〕成立的，负责有关国家安全的全部事务、对武装部队进行统一领导的联邦政府行政部门，其下属的军事部门包括陆军部〔Department of the Army〕、海军部〔Department of the Navy〕和空军部〔Department of the Air Force〕。由于国防部的前身是1947年根据《国家安全法》〔National Security Act〕成立的国家军事组织，因此有人把1947年作为国防部建立的时间。
