consign (k[schwa]n-sIn), vb.

1. To transfer to another’s custody or charge.

2. To give (goods) to a carrier for delivery to a designated recipient.

3. To give (merchandise or the like) to another to sell, usu. with the understanding that the seller will pay the owner for the goods from the proceeds.
