acceptilation

acceptilation (ak-sep-t[schwa]-lay-sh[schwa]n), n. [fr. Latin acceptilatio “release”] Roman & civil law. An oral release from an obligation even though payment has not been made in full; a complete discharge, esp. through a fictitious payment. — Also termed (in Roman law) acceptilatio. Cf. APOCHA.
