addictio

addictio ([schwa]-dik-shee-oh), n. [Latin] Roman law. The awarding by a magistrate of a person or thing to another, as the property of a debtor to a creditor, or as a form of conveyance. — Also termed addiction. Pl. addictiones ([schwa]-dik-shee-oh-neez).
