chapiter (chap-[schwa]-t[schwa]r). [Law French] Hist. A list of matters drawn up by the king to be pre-sented before the justices in eyre, justices of assise, or justices of the peace. — Also spelled chapitre. Cf. AR-TICLES OF THE EYRE.
