delinquent child

A child who has committed an offense that would be a crime if committed by an adult.

• A delinquent child may not be subject to the jurisdiction of the juvenile court if the child is under a statutory age. Cf. child in need of supervision. Cf. JUVENILE DELINQUENT. [Cases: Infants 153. C.J.S. Infants §§ 33–35, 41–42, 64, 67.]
