Farm Credit Administration. An independent federal agency that regulates and examines the borrower-owned banks and cooperative associations that make up the federal farm credit system. • The agency was created in 1929 under the title “Federal Farm Board,” became an agency in the Department of Agriculture in 1933, and again became independent in 1971. — Abbr.
