A person or company whose business is to receive and ship goods for others. • A freight forwarder may be an agent of the cargo’s owner or of the carrier, or may be an independent contractor acting as a principal and assuming the carrier’s responsibility for delivering the cargo. — Also termed third-party logistical service provider; forwarding agent.
