huissier (wee-syay), n. [French fr. huis “door”]

1. French law. An usher of a court; an officer (such as a marshal) who serves process.

2. Hist. In England, a ministerial officer attached to a court, responsible for service of process, issuing executions, and maintaining order during court sessions.
