1. The act of showing involvement in something, esp. a crime or misfeasance (the implication of the judges in the bribery scheme).

2. An inference drawn from something said or observed (the implication was that the scheme involved several persons).

necessary implication. An implication so strong in its probability that anything to the contrary would be unreasonable.
