manse (mans), n. [Law Latin] Hist.

1. A portion of land large enough to maintain one family; a sufficient amount of land to be worked by a yoke of oxen for a year.

2. A house without land; MESSUAGE.

3. In Scotland, a minister’s dwelling. — Also termed mansus.
