mulier (myoo-lee-[schwa]r), n. [Latin]

1. Roman law. A woman. • This term at various times referred to a marriageable virgin, a woman not a virgin, a wife, or a mistress.

2. Hist. & Scots law. A legitimate son; the son of a mulier (“lawful wife”).
