non quieta movere (non kwI-ee-t[schwa] moh-veer-ee), n. [Latin “not to disturb what is settled”] Stare decisis. • Non quieta movere expresses the same principle as stare decisis. It is part of the longer phrase stare decisis et non quieta movere (“to adhere to precedents, and not to unsettle things that are established”). See STARE DECISIS. [Cases: Courts 89. C.J.S.
