prorogue (proh-rohgor pr[schwa]-), vb.

1. To postpone or defer.

2. To discontinue a session of (a legislative assembly, esp. the British Parliament) without dissolution.

3. To suspend or discontinue a legislative session. [Cases: States 32. C.J.S. States §§ 48–50.]
