refer. Parliamentary law. To send (a motion) to a committee for its consideration or investigation, with a view to a report from the committee back to the referring body.

— Also termed commit. Cf. RECOMMIT; DISCHARGE (9).

re-refer. (Of the U.S. House of Representatives) to refer a bill to a different committee from the one it was originally referred to.
