(Of an instrument) effective immediately without the need of any type of implementing action (the wills had self-executing affidavits attached). • Legal instruments may be self-executing according to various standards. For example, treaties are self-executing under the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution (art. VI, § 2) if textually capable of judicial enforcement and intended to be enforced in that manner.
