chartered ship.
1. A ship specially hired to transport the goods of only one person or company. [Cases: Shipping 34–58. C.J.S. Shipping §§ 74–146, 148, 379.]
2. A ship on which a shipper has chartered space for a cargo.
general ship. A ship that is put up for a particular voyage to carry the goods of any persons willing to ships goods on it for that voyage.
