deputy sheriff 〈美〉(县)行政司法官助理 受任命代理和代替行政司法官履行其职责的官员。分为「副行政司法官」〔general deputy sheriff，有时简称为general deputy，或称为undersheriff〕和「行政司法官临时助理」〔special deputy sheriff，简称为special deputy〕。前者在任命后，有权履行行政司法官的全部职责，毋需得到行政司法官的特别授权。后者则为临时任命的官员，仅在一些特别场合或为某一特殊的任务而任命，如送达特别的传票，在有可能发生动乱或骚乱，或者在动乱、骚乱发生时协助维持秩序等。临时助理受到特别授权和特别任命，而非一般授权和一般任命。 (→sheriff)
