Divine right of kings 君权神授；王权神授 最初出现于16世纪后期的神授权力理论。依此理论，君主〔monarch〕及其合法继承人通过神授而享有王权，且无论行为如何不端或脱离王位时间多长，皆不丧失此权力。其最初的提出是为了对抗罗马教皇及教会声称的在宗教和世俗领域的最高统治权，后来英格兰斯图亚特王朝〔Stuart〕早期的几位国王在与议会争夺政治主权的冲突中也用该理论捍卫君权。该理论综合了三个基本命题，君主的权力是上帝为了人类利益而赐授的；君主的统治权是不受限制和不可分割的(尽管他们在道义上负有遵从神法的义务)；任何对其命令的违抗都是非法的。
