ordinance n. (1)条例 指由市政法人〔municipal corporation〕的立法机关通过的法规。不过，该词主要用于美国英语中，等同于municipal law;而英国英语中与其对应的词为by-law。但在美国英语中，bylaw一般指「公司章程〔articles of incorporation〕之外的内部规则」。 (→bylaws) (2)〈英〉法令 与议会立法不同，特指未经上下两院和国王一致同意，仅由其中一方或两方同意而制定的法令。在英国1642-1660年内战期间通过的法令就是这种形式。 (3)条令 根据旧时的解释，指国王应下议院的质询，就具体案件中法律的适用以公告的形式作出回答，并由此产生新的法律。在现在，指君主颁布的骑士身份令，殖民地议会、自治领〔Dominions〕和自治殖民地〔self-governing colonies〕制定的法律文件。
