special term 〈美〉特别开庭期 指法院在特别时期由负责官员〔presiding officer〕指定的处理某些特别事务的期间,区别于法院常规的开庭期或休庭期。在某些州,指法院由一名法官主持对申请〔motion〕和具有衡平法性质的案件进行初次审理和裁决的期间,区别于通常由三名法官主持审理上诉案件的一般开庭期〔general term〕。在某些司法区,还指除陪审团审判以外法庭处理事务的期间。
