Amendment of an existing trademark registration to make minor changes in the design of a mark to reflect how the mark is actually used. • The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office permits an amendment of registration only if it does not materially alter the character of the mark. The PTO amends a registration by attaching to the printed registration a printed certificate showing the amendment.
