translation, n.

1. The transformation of language from one form to another; esp., the systematic rendering of the language of a book, document, or speech into another language.

“Generally speaking, a translation need not consist of transferring from one language into another; it may apply to the expression of the same thoughts in other words of the same language.” Rasmussen v. Baker, 50 P. 819, 826 (Wyo. 1897).

3. Eccles. law. The removal of a bishop from one diocese to another.
