A group of people empowered to suggest measures to improve the established church’s efficiency, to be ratified by orders in council. • This body of commissioners, established in 1836 by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners Act (St. 6 & 7 Will. 4, ch. 77), has been dissolved. Its functions, rights, and property are now vested in the church commissioners.
