eleemosynarius (el-[schwa]-mos-[schwa]-nair-ee-[schwa]s), n. Hist.[Law Latin]

1. An almoner, or chief officer, who received the eleemosynary rents and gifts and distributed them to pious and charitable uses.

2. The name of an officer (lord almoner) of the English kings, in former times, who distributed the royal alms or bounty.
