manucaptio (man-y[schwa]-kap-shee-oh), n. [Law Latin] Hist.

1. Surety; security; bail.

2. A writ allowing a person to be admitted to bail, when the person had been arrested for a felony but could not be admitted to bail by the sheriff. See MAINPRISE.
