onerous trust

A trust that places exceptionally heavy and time-consuming duties of responsibility and care on the trustee, often without providing for compensation.

• Because of the burden and inequity of requiring the trust to be administered voluntarily, courts often grant a trustee a reasonable sum for the tasks performed.
