Secession of the South

〈美〉脱离联邦 1860年美国南方11州脱离联邦，组成美国邦联〔confederate states of America〕，引发了1861-1865年的内战，并产生了许多影响州与联邦政府关系及战前、战中公民经合同约定的权利的决定，而最重要的是有关脱离权〔power or right〕的决定。脱离权是指组成联邦的州从联邦中退出的权利。但是联邦是永久的且不可分解的，州不享有退出的权利，州不能脱离联邦而破坏其作为州的地位、也不能使其不受联邦宪法的约束。
