absence beyond the seas 〈英〉在海外 指不在联合王国及所属邻岛的范围内。根据以前诉讼时傚法〔Statutes of Limitation〕的规定，「在海外」将中止计算时效期间，但根据1939年和1963年时傚法，则不构成中止计算时效期间的理由。
