admonition n. (1)(教会法)(对神职人员的)告诫 教会法中最轻微的一种惩罚,其目的是防微杜渐。对告诫的违反被视为轻视或藐视,将导致暂被停薪等更严重的惩罚。 (2)指导 法庭就陪审员的职责、证据的可采性等问题向陪审团所作的权威性口头建议或提醒。 (3)(法官对律师的)警告;告诫 (4)〈英〉训诫 法官对轻微犯罪的行为人给予的一种惩罚,即向被告人说明其行为的后果,并告诫他如果以后再犯同样的罪行将会受到更严厉的惩罚,然后将其释放。也指由御前大臣〔Chancellor〕或下议院议长代表上议院或下议院对冒犯议会名誉或特权的议员或其他人所作的斥责。
