crier n. (1)(法庭)传令官 法院的一种官员,主要职责为宣布开庭和休庭,宣布某些特定事项将要进行,传某人到庭,点呼陪审员、证人、当事人的姓名,宣布某证人已宣誓,按指示要求保持法庭肃静,及按法官的命令作这类公开性质的宣告。在英国历史上,衡平法院的传令官职位于1852年即已废除,普通法法院的传令官则由法官的一名书记官来充任。 (2)拍卖师(→auctioneer)
