deprivation. 1. An act of taking away (deprivation of property). 2. A withholding of something (deprivation of food). 3. The state of being without something; wanting (deprivation from lack of food). 4. A removal or degradation from office, esp. an ecclesiastical office (deprivation of the bishop). Cf.
