four seas 四海 指环绕英格兰的诸海。划分为西部海，包括苏格兰海和爱尔兰海；北部海，或北海〔North sea〕；东部海，指日耳曼洋〔German ocean〕;南部海，指英吉利海峡。「在四海以内」意指在英国管辖范围之内。
