inquisitio post mortem 〈拉〉〈英〉死后调查 在国王的封臣〔tenants of the crown〕死亡后对其进行的一种官方调查〔inquest of office〕，以便确定该封臣死亡时所领有的土地及其继承人的年龄，从而确定国王对未成年继承人的婚姻、监护等项权利。封建土地保有废止后，该调查即限于王室的土地复归〔escheat〕、没收财产〔forfeiture〕的情形。
