juge
juge (zhoozh), n. [French] French law. A judge. juge de paix (zhoozh d[schwa] peorpay). An inferior judge; esp., a police magistrate. juge d’instruction (zhoozh dan-strook-syawn). A magistrate who conducts preliminary criminal proceedings, as by taking complaints, interrogating parties and witnesses, and formulating charges.
