Northwest Territory 〈美〉〈加〉西北地区；西北部领土 １在美国，指18世纪后期由大陆会议〔Continental Congress〕所确定的美国第一块领土，即五大湖〔Great Lakes〕以南，俄亥俄河〔Ohio River〕以北及密西西比河〔Mississippi River〕以东的地区。其包括现在的州有：俄亥俄〔Ohio〕、印第安纳〔Indiana〕、伊利诺伊〔Illinois〕、密歇根〔Michigan〕、威斯康星〔Wisconsin〕及明尼苏达〔Minnesota〕州东部。２在加拿大，指从大不列颠哥伦比亚省〔British Columbia〕、阿尔伯达省〔Alberta〕、萨斯喀彻温省〔Sakatchewan〕及马尼托巴省〔Manitoba〕北部边界直向北极延伸的地区。
