occupancy n. (1)占用 占有并使用。依普通法，占有人可通过时效占有〔adverse possession〕获得所有权〔title〕，需真实、公开、和平占有，但不必作为居所。无主物也可以占有方式获得所有权，但在英国，皇室鱼〔royal fish〕及鱼塘中的鱼、森林及受保护的公园中的动物通常除外。 (2)占用期 (3)(国际法)(军事)占领 (4)(国际法)先占 (5)〈美〉联邦管辖范围 宪法概念。联邦对不属州法诉讼〔state action〕的特定范围，如煽动叛乱等，主张管辖权时，采用「occupancy of the field」。 (→occupation)
