respondentia n. 船货抵押货款 以船上货物作为抵押的贷款，是一种早期的借贷与海上保险相结合的形式，贷款能否偿还取决于海上风险，如果船载货物灭失，则贷款不再偿还。「船舶抵押贷款」〔bottomry〕原来仅限于以船舶作为抵押，但现在「respondentia」一词很少使用，所以「bottomry」一词被广泛使用，既可指以船舶又可指以船货或指兼有两者作抵押。

respondentia 船货抵押借款 为一种早期的借贷与海上保险相混合的形式。古代的海上贸易，船东往往就是货主。因此，当船东以船舶作为抵押进行借款时，有时也将货物包括在抵押品内，也有单以货物作为抵押品的，当船舶失事、货物灭失时，借款人不需归还船货抵押借款的本利。
