smuggling n. 走私 明知是应缴纳关税的商品或货物而逃避关税，或明知是违反国家禁止性规定的商品或货物而携带其出入国境的行为。在英国，根据1952年《关税和消费税法》〔Customs and Excise Act〕,对走私犯判处以下刑罚：１没收所有走私的商品或货物；２处以走私货物或物品价值3倍或100英镑(择一高额)的罚金；３处2年监禁刑。
