Twelfth Amendment 〈美〉美国宪法第十二条修正案 该修正案1803年12月9日由国会提出，1804年6月15日获批准。该修正案改变了选举总统的选举团制度〔electoral college system〕。它是1800年总统选举中众议院在确定托马斯·杰斐逊〔Thomas Jefferson〕和阿龙·伯尔〔Aaron Burr〕谁为总统出现僵局时提出的。因为根据宪法原规定，选举团选举两人分别担任总统和副总统，但选票上并不标明谁为总统和副总统，选票相等之时则交由众议院投票决定。第十二条修正案要求将总统与副总统的选票分开，同时规定如果候选人中无人获以州为单位的多数票时，由众议院选出总统，参议院选出副总统。
