wager of law 誓证裁决 一译「宣誓断讼」。一种中世纪的裁判方式,被侵入罗马帝国的许多蛮族和部落采用。根据这种裁判方式,被告用誓言驳斥原告的指控,并且找来11个邻人宣誓证明其无辜。这种裁判方式在英格兰得到发展,并在教会法院中被长期沿用,16、17世纪时趋于衰落,于1833年被废止。 (→compurgation)
