glossary / TITLE DIVISION
title division. Archaic. A common-law system for dividing property acquired during marriage upon the dissolution of the marriage, the divisions being based on who holds legal title to the property. • Under title division, when a marriage ends in divorce, property purchased during the marriage is awarded to the person who holds title to the property.
