synodales testes 〈拉〉主教区会议证人 指在主教区会议上提出证据的人，在古代由城市和乡村的教长担任，其职责之一即是向教区会议报告俗人和教士中行为不端的事件。此后，证人指每个堂区的一个牧师和两三名俗人。后来由堂区俗人执事〔churchwardens〕或副执事〔sidesmen〕履行此职责。

General Synod of the Church of England 〈英〉英格兰国教公会议 1970年对「英格兰国教全国大会」〔National Assembly of the Church of England or the Church Assembly〕更名和重组而建立的机构，由坎特伯雷和约克两郡的教牧人员代表会议〔convocation〕合并而成的一个主教院〔House of Bishops〕即上院，一个教士院〔House of Clergy〕即下院，以及依据代表法则选举产生的俗人院〔House of Laity〕组成。它一年至少开两次会，研究与英格兰国教会有关的事务并为此制定法规。这些法规是通过《公会议法》〔Acts of Synod〕、命令或规则制定的，以及原来由教牧人员代表会议和议会通过的教会法规。

synod n. (教会法) (1)宗教会议；公会议 分为四种：１由各国主教出席的全球公会议；２某国神职人员的公会议；３某教省的神职人员的公会议，现亦称作教牧人员代表会议〔convocation〕;４主教区会议。 (2)(教区)长老会议；长老会法院 由主教和至少三个长老组成。它与普世公会议不同，只由部分神职人员代表组成。该组织在长老制教会中是中间一级的行政与司法机关，亦属于其司法系统，处于教务评议会〔presbytery〕和最高立法机构长老会全会〔general assembly〕之间，可以接受对下级会议所作判决的上诉，亦可对其他案件制定出纠正法令。
