Master in Chancery 〈英〉文秘署事务官;衡平法院事务官亦称「Masters in Ordinary of the High Court of Chancery」,是衡平法院的高级官员,协助御前大臣处理日常事务,包括处理民众申诉,签发初始令状,讯问证人,并承担某些受托的司法事务,听审并向御前大臣汇报某些案件。其首领是掌卷法官〔Master of the Rolls〕。一段时间内,衡平法院事务官这一职位可以出卖,这造成了极坏影响,1852年该职位被取消,但1897年始从他们原来职位上选出的首席事务官被称为最高法院事务官〔Masters of the Supreme Court〕。 (→Master of the Rolls; Masters of the Supreme Court)
