waiting period 等待期间 某些法定权利或补救方法在被执行和实施之前所必须经过的期间。在保险法中,须经此期间届满,保单才生效并可依此进行赔偿。在劳动法中,指在通知罢工意图后的一段时间,在此期间不举行任何合法的罢工行为。在证券法中,证券在经证券交易委员会〔Securities and Exchange Commission〕进行登记后也需经过该期间才能向公众出售。在劳工赔偿法中,指人身伤害发生后的一段时期,根据制定法的规定,此期间内不能进行劳工赔偿。 (→cooling off period; cooling time)
